Monday’s Musings #234 & Pumpkins!

Monday's Musings #234 & Pumpkins | What Joy Is Mine

The official beginning of autumn is around the corner. Can you take that in? I am excited! Apples, roasted green chilies, cooler temps and pumpkins! Plus, this is our trip season. We skip traveling in the summer and seize our vacation time in the fall. Better weather, less crowds and cheaper prices. Next week I’ll share our most recent trip with you. Anyhow, today I am about pumpkins and how much I enjoy eating foods made with them as well as crafting and decorating with them. I am sharing some fun links to foods, crafts and decorating—all surrounding pumpkins. Here we go…

  • Keyed Pumpkins  (pictured)
  • Decorating ideas pictured above: Miniature pumpkins surrounding a candle in a large candle holder; white painted pumpkins placed alongside old lanterns; small pumpkins placed on various “pedestals,” and assorted pumpkins in vases.

So, there’s some ideas to look through and try. I know autumn isn’t here for another 3 days but I think you’ll be good to start planning now. Time to say goodbye to summer until next year.

And now it’s time to share your favorite posts that will encourage. Thank you for being here.

Homemaker Planner Review & Giveaway

Homemaker's Daily Planner | What Joy Is Mine

A planner is a must for me. I use one to diligently manage my home and family. Without it, I am usually unorganized and forgetting things. My planner helps me stay on target with what I need to get done in my day, month and year. I believe we, as homemakers, ought to be on top of things so our homes run more smoothly.

homemakerplanner

Well, I am so excited to share with you one planner that is perfect for helping homemakers, like you and I, stay on top of things. It is the Homemaker’s Daily Planner. This wonderful planner aids in helping moms stay organized and succeed in accomplishing their daily, monthly and yearly goals.

The creator of the Homemaker’s Daily Planner, Sue, is married to her husband, Dan, and they are blessed with six beautiful children ages 6-22. She developed this planner after many years of homemaking and being a mother. She definitely understands the needs of the homemaker in managing her home and family. Since 2010, thousands of homemakers have benefited from the Homemaker’s Daily Planner and I am one of them.

The Homemaker’s Daily Planner includes the following:

  • Yearly calendar
  • Monthly calendar (Two page spread)
  • Weekly Planning pages (Two page spread)
  • Tasks Lists section
  • Projects and Events section
  • Information pages (to keep addresses and phone numbers)
  • Shopping Lists pages (These are perforated so you can take your list with you.)

Throughout the Homemaker’s Daily Planner there are tidbits of encouragement to motivate you which I love and the planner is durable in design. One of my favorite features is the tasks lists section. This is where I keep up with my monthly and daily FlyLady duties. I can put down each zone area I’m working in along with the tasks to be completed. Very handy!

Here are more views of the Homemaker’s Daily Planner.

Monday’s Musings #178 & The Industrious Homemaker

The Industrious Homemaker | What Joy Is Mine

The Proverbs 31 woman always seems daunting but she is not mentioned in the Word to intimidate us. She is there to encourage us in our roles as homemakers. A trait she urges us to take on is being industrious in life. “She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.(Proverbs 31:27) There are two points to this verse: she is industrious (diligently tends to the needs of her home and family) and she is not idle.

Industrious defined is “constantly, regularly or habitually occupied in business; opposed to slothful and idle.” Being an industrious woman means we map out with intention and determination a strategy to accomplish what we set out to do. It could be following through on a simple task like organizing a drawer or something more involved like home schooling our children.

Living an industrious life includes goal setting, laying out a plan, then executing it until completion. As homemakers, we benefit from being industrious in going about our day. When we lay out our goals for the week then plan out how we will achieve those goals, we are enabling ourselves to be productive in our homemaking to the benefit of our family, our home and our sanity.

The industrious homemaker purposely schedules out her day so she is making good use of her time. She is not about wasting the hours scrambling about to get things done. Everything is orderly so there is a a game plan to follow. By doing this, she can see to successfully bringing about her day’s agenda.

What she isn’t interested in is being idle in her day. As Matthew Henry puts it, “that when we have nothing to do the devil will soon find us something to do.” Idleness is the homemaker’s enemy. The homemaker that only puts off what must be done creates more work for her hands and opens the door for chaos in the home. Slothfulness does not bless our home or family. “Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and an idle person will suffer hunger,” it says in Proverbs 19.

The industrious homemaker strives to stay on top of things and avoids idleness. Her objective is to view her week, lay out her goals and put those goals into action. One other important thing to know about the industrious homemaker, she gives herself grace if her planned agenda is interrupted. However, having an objective in place makes it easier to pick up where she left off or reschedule things to get back on track when she is able.

So, are you an industrious homemaker? I invite you to stop by tomorrow as I am having a giveaway for a fabulous planner that will help you be more organized and industrious in your homemaking. Be sure to come by and enter.

So, what have you to share this week my friends? I’m so glad you’re here.
