Monday’s Musings #185 & Daybook Entry 10/4

Monday's Musings #185 & Daybook Entry | What Joy Is Mine

(A photo from a wedding shoot I recently helped with. I love this shot.)

Today is October 4, 2015 (Sunday evening entry)

The weather outside is chilly, windy and rain showers here and there. Today I can say autumn is officially here. Yes!

I shared a sweet time away with my Love this last week. He had a conference in AZ and I tagged along. I will say I did NOT like the heat in AZ. It was never below 102 degrees! Craziness.

My reading agenda finds me still working through Self Raised (sequel to Ishmael) and working through a blogging course as well as reading material on blogging. Since I love it, I want to be the best I can at it. So, what would like to see me blog about?

I am looking forward to the balloon fiesta this week. Oh, the balloons are such a beautiful highlight to our fall season. Pictures to come, I hope.

I am disappointed that my daughter was let go at her job. We knew they were going to do cuts but we prayed she wouldn’t be one. However, she is handling this disappointment well and looking else where for another job. I know God is doing a good thing in her life and we trust Him with that.

One project I am working on is getting back into photography more consistently.  The photo I shared above is just one of many I took when I assisted at a wedding. I do like that shot a lot.

Healthwise, I am one pound away from my goal. It has been a humbling journey and the Lord has not forsaken me. Moreover, He has answered my prayers concerning this journey I embarked on a few months ago. So, thankful to see results and to gain wisdom along the way.

In my kitchen, I am wanting to make homemade applesauce along with more soups and stews. Okay, this season begs for it, right?

I am thankful for the job my husband has. He is a good leader to those under him and so knowledgeable in his area of work. The Lord has gifted him well and I am grateful to see how He is working through him.

For dinner, its leftovers or cereal. At the writing of this, I am still undecided.

A favorite quote: “Hypocrisy can plunge the mind of a man into a dark abyss, when he believes his own self-flattery instead of God’s verdict.” (John Calvin)

Thank you all for linking up last week. I read some great posts. What will you share this week?

Hello, dear Naomi. I would love to know a little more about your homeschooling. Would you consider adding a post or two about this topic?
I hope you are doing well today.
By the way, I hear you on the crazy Arizona weather. Last week I was in shorts, today I’m wearing socks, long pants, and an extra shirt. Oh, well…

    Hi Naomi,
I live here in AZ and you are right, it was awful! The heat finally broke, though, and this morning was a fresh and beautiful 73! Praise God! In fall, us Arizonians are like much of the country in the spring :-) We come out of hibernation and enjoy our beautiful outdoors again!

I love this creative picture! That’s the kind of photography I wanted at my wedding thirteen years ago. We didn’t get it. It was your basic posed shots all around (But I got my man, and that’s more important!). Congratulations on almost making your weight loss goal! ONE POUND!!! WOOHOO!!! I’ve got about 15 to go, but I’ve lost 12, so I’m almost halfway there!

Mary…At our wedding, our photographer took a few creative shots but ours was mostly poses, too. As a photographer, I want to catch the moment not just the pose. I was a second at this wedding shoot so I got to do just that! And thank you for the cheer on my weight loss. I’m cheering on your 12 pounds loss and 15 to go! You can do it. :-)

Hello my dear Naomi! This post was a fun glimpse into your day. I am sorry about your daughter’s job but know that God will be opening a new door to her soon. It is always an adventure with God! ;)

Congrats on making your goal, because you are nearly there and know you will make it soon. I haven’t made my goal yet. You would think that with all the stress of my mom’s illness and passing that I would have done it. But stress can drive me to eat, lol! However, I DID manage to lose ten pounds and I will make it to my goal eventually.

Have an awesome week, my friend, and thanks for hosting!
