Monday’s Musings #267 & June Daybook

June Daybook & Monday's Musings #167 | What Joy Is Mine

Today is June 25th.

The weather is windy but there is a beautiful sunset happening as I type. I have to say…we have beautiful sunsets here.

I have officially lived 50 years. What? I know! I can hardly believe it myself. And I am ever so thankful for those 50 years. The good and the hard. It’s what makes my story. It’s God’s design for my life.

I enjoyed celebrating my 50th birthday last week. I was overjoyed by all the sweet love I received. My family threw me a surprise party and showered me with good food and laughter. At church, I got lots of hugs and best wishes. Truly, it was a great weekend!

I have finished reading “The Imitation of Christ” by Thomas a Kempis and “Peter Pan” J.M. Barrie. I enjoyed both very much. I am now reading “The Count of Monte Cristo” by Alexander Dumas and “Absolute Surrender and Other Addresses” by Andrew Murray. I am reading The Count of Monte Cristo a second time. It’s a great book on forgiveness and reconciliation.

I cannot believe June is almost over. The first day of summer has come and gone. Summer is officially here. This month alone found us celebrating graduations, birthdays, a baby shower, and watching “Wonder Woman” and “Cars 3,” both of which I loved! We don’t travel in the summer preferring to avoid crowds, traffic and the heat. But we will have friends over to grill and hang out as well as enjoy local events.

We are in the stage of life where we are seeing the age of our parents. From health concerns to forgetfulness, it is not easy watching them grow old-er. Yet we are trying to seize time with them and enjoy them.

I am thankful for family, birthdays to celebrate life, our church, and good movies.

Favorite saying:O, let the place of secret prayer become to me the most beloved spot on earth.“- Andrew Murray

    Happy Birthday, Naomi! :-)
I know what you mean about being more aware of our parents’ aging and also how hard that is. I’m also trying to enjoy mine as I see the marks of the years taking their toll.

Happy 50th! I’ve found this to be a challenging decade, but am committed to the faithfulness of God — which is another 5th decade bonus. My youngest son will be doing Peter Pan this fall and it hadn’t occurred to me to read the book. Maybe that’s a good project for us to take on together! Thanks for the inspiration!
