Who We Are
This is the privacy policy for What Joy Is Mine, located at whatjoyismine.net. We take your privacy seriously and collect only what we need to keep this site running well.
What We Collect and Why
- Comments. When you leave a comment, we collect the information you enter in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user agent for spam detection. An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to Gravatar to display your profile picture if you use that service.
- Media. If you upload images, please remove any embedded GPS location data (EXIF data) beforehand — visitors can extract it from downloaded files.
- Cookies. Commenting can save your name, email, and website in a cookie for one year, so you don't have to retype them. Login cookies last two days; choosing "Remember Me" extends that to two weeks. Screen-preference cookies last one year. An article-editing cookie with no personal data expires after one day.
- Embedded content. Posts may include videos or other content from third-party sites. That content behaves as if you visited those sites directly — they may collect data, use cookies, and track interactions.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam-detection service.
Your Rights and Our Responsibilities
- Data retention. Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognized and approved automatically. Registered user profiles are stored until deletion is requested.
- Your rights. If you have an account or have left a comment, you may request a full export of your personal data or ask us to delete it — except data we are legally or administratively required to keep.
- Editing your data. Registered users can view, edit, or delete their profile information at any time (usernames cannot be changed). Administrators can also access and edit that information.
